Endometriosis

Particularly related to heavy periods, endometriosis occurs when endometrial cells (the lining of the uterus) are not entirely discharged by menstruation, and clumps of cells may be reabsorbed and lodged around the fallopian tubes and even disturbed away from the pelvic cavity to parts of the body via the blood or lymphatic systems. These patches can bleed monthly when activated by subsequent hormonal cycles and cause intense distress and seemingly unrelated pain associated with this condition.
